Select material and material thickness:
Standard quality: AlMg3 (EN AW-5754 / 3.3535)
AlMg3 Standard alloy for medium loads. Very easy to edge and weld. Quite corrosion resistant. Can be used in contact with food. The material is not suitable for either hard or soft soldering.
AlMg1 anodized (EN AW-5005A / 3.3315)
Natural anodized sheet metal, cut edges not anodized. Medium strength, corrosion resistant to atmosphere.
AL99,5 (EN AW-1050A / 3.0255)
Softer than AlMg3, very easy to bend and form. Poorly machinable, medium resistance to weather and sea water.
Short information about the materials:
Aluminum is a light material, the density is 2.66 g/cm³, which is about a third of the density of steel. Pure aluminum is not used in technical terms due to its low strength. Aluminum alloys achieve significantly higher strength values. Metallic aluminum forms a thin passive layer of aluminum oxide on the surface, which prevents further corrosion. Aluminum has high electrical and thermal conductivity.
